The Executive Chairman of Jos South Local Government, Hon. Silas Patrick Dung, on Friday convened an emergency security meeting in response to the recent spate of attacks in the area.
The high level session was held at the local government secretariat and brought together key stakeholders to address the security situation in the flashpoint communities. The closed door meeting included security chiefs, representatives of traditional rulers, the National Council of Women’s Society, and officials from the State Intelligence Bureau (SIB).
The meeting was prompted by the recent incidents that occurred in some parts of the local government, with the Chairman and the security heads conducting a thorough threat assessment of the identified flash points where previous attacks had taken place.
Following the emergency meeting, Hon. Silas Patrick Dung immediately proceeded to the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) in Kuru, where he joined His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Plateau State, to receive the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Kashim Shettima, GCON.
The Vice President, who was on a visit to the institute, arrived to convey the heartfelt condolences of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the management, staff, participants, families, and the people of Plateau State over the recent tragic incident at the institute.
The attack, which occurred earlier this week, tragically claimed the lives of three security personnel stationed at the institute. The Vice President’s visit underscores the Federal Government’s commitment to addressing the security challenges in the state.
